ERGOsax Soprano Saxophone Support

Revolutionary new soprano sax support!

Designed for the straight soprano, this device eliminates the tension in the player’s right hand and arm, and by extension, other parts of the body. Comfortable, and well-engineered, the ERGObrass support can allow the soprano player to practice for hours without the usual discomfort.

Description

The general idea of ERGObrass supports is based on the simple fact that all wind instruments are heavy to hold. We all know that relaxation is very important in soprano saxophone playing. However, holding the instrument in the playing position inevitably produces static tension in the hands, arms, shoulders, upper body, and throat. Typically, a player bends his or her head down and plays the soprano downwards. However, the bell should point more toward the audience.

Most players end up adopting this curved posture and the tension within their playing style - but the tension is always there disturbing the performance.

By using an ERGObrass support every soprano sax player can stay relaxed while playing. And in addition to the better efficiency, it is also very comfortable!

There are two playing options: standing, and using the included belt attachment; sitting, and simply placing the rubber stopper on the chair.

Staff Review

I was completely intrigued when I first heard about this product. The man behind Ergobrass, Jouko Antere, got in touch with me and told me about the concept; I agreed that this definitely is a specific issue for the soprano sax player, and so I was very interested to see whether his design would solve this issue. After receiving a sample, I realized that we were dealing with an extremely well-engineered product that was intuitively easy to set up. As soon as I started playing the sop I realized that it was going to be a game-changer for soprano sax players. Particularly those who like to do a lot of practise. I suffer from achy right hand and arm syndrome when playing sop, but with this device, all these problems go away immediately. It should also, by extension, encourage you to keep a more consistent posture and throat position, thus encouraging better technique and sound production. Great product! Jim - SAX
