Selmer Paris Reference 36 Tenor Saxophone - Vintage Finish

THE SELMER REFERENCE 36 HAS BEEN SUPERSEDED BY THE NEW SUPREME

Inspired by one of the truly great saxophones, the Selmer Reference 36 is an amalgamation of vintage sound and aesthetics and modern day reliability, bringing players closer to the famous saxophonists of yesteryear

Description

The Reference Series is Selmer’s nod towards their hugely popular saxophones of the past, encapsulating the spirit of these fantastic instruments into a newly refined design. In the Reference 36, Selmer took their inspiration from the sound of their hugely popular Balanced Action - a big warm sound with plenty of spread, whilst redesigning the neck, bore size and ergonomics.

The result is an instantly recognisable sound in a sax that is a joy to play.

Compared to many vintage instruments, the key work on the Reference 36 is smooth and easy to play with a modern layout that improves tuning stability and makes side and palm keys a lot more accessible.

Reviews

That quintessential smokey Jazz club tenor sound, in the shape of a modern production Selmer! For my money one of the best top end saxophones on the market. Matthew Racine (Sax.co.uk)

This is one of my personal favourites; the big spread of sound that this sax produces is incredible and it offers up an alternative for those who want a slightly darker sound than a Mark VI sax. Whilst the Reference 54 is likely to draw more attention due to its Mark VI heritage, the Reference 36 is the sax to go for if you are looking for that smokier, more characterful tenor sound a la Joe Henderson or Mark Turner. Scott (Sax.co.uk)
