The JDX Baritone sax mouthpiece is brighter and has a stronger projection than many standard hard rubber designs.  This latest 3.0 version features a unique wedged baffle alongside Dr Rousseau’s innovative ‘V’ Chamber.  The overall vibe is one of great power, edge, projection, incredible response and an even scale through the registers!  And at the same time there is enough flexibility to drop back and play a sensitive ballad.

Following on from JodyJazz taking over the production of Rousseau mouthpieces, we see the most significant changes within the JDX line, more than any other model.  These 3.0 models see a continuation of the unique 'V' chamber (that is now also available on the sop, alto and tenor pieces) and in the process of overhauling the design Jody has made these mouthpieces more free blowing than ever, with improved altissimo.  Jody tells us: "Simply put, the JDX series of saxophone mouthpieces will do everything you need in a Jazz and Pop setting. They are easy to control, easy to play and easy to sound great on. If you try one, I’m pretty sure you will want to keep it."

ROUSSEAU’S LEGACY

Other than being one of the most influential figures in the world of teaching through much of the twentieth century, Dr Eugene Rousseau dedicated much of his career to establishing a line of mouthpieces for both classical and jazz musicians alike.  To continue the legacy of the great man, Jody Espina of JodyJazz fame collaborated with him in the last few years of his life and agreed to re-vitalise the range and bring the mouthpieces up to the highest possible modern standards.  While 2.0 versions represented making small adjustments to the remaining stock from the original factory, the 3.0 versions now showcase a completely re-vamped mouthpiece, all finished in the JodyJazz factory to the same exacting standards as their own range of products.  Jody took CAT scans of the best examples of Rousseau mouthpieces and made tweaks to the design, such that ALL tip openings played perfectly.  The mouthpieces are made via CNC technology, and hand-finished to perfection, consistent with all the mouthpieces that come from Jody’s factory.

All the Rousseau 3.0 models feature a matte natural hard rubber finish with a deep, rich luster and new fully engraved logos with striking gold paint.
